The inhabitants of Ashera Administrative area, Hagaz sub-zone, said that they are engaged in soil and water conservation undertaking with a view to restoring erosion-hit areas and boosting agricultural output. Hagaz, 6 March 2013 – The inhabitants of Ashera Administrative area, Hagaz sub-zone, said that they are engaged in soil and water conservation undertaking with a view to restoring erosion-hit areas and boosting agricultural output.

Among the inhabitants, Mr. Bahlibi Arbed, Ms. Medhinu Niguse, Ms. Elsa Haile and Mr. Nafie Woldemichael explained that the community venture is expected to have a vital impact as regards raising food production, including that of animal feed. They further indicated that they would sustain the venture until the onset of the rainy season, and asserted that their livelihood has by and large been improved following the putting in place of various social service facilities.

In the same vein, Mr. Woldezgi Mebrahtu and Mr. Gebrat Almedai voiced every farmer’s readiness to prepare farmland on time, and thereby raise harvest.

Mr. Gergis Abraha, Administrator of Ashera Administrative area, disclosed that the undertaking is being conducted twice a week, and that it would continue at an accelerated pace.
