Asmara, 11 March 2013 – The NUEW members in the UK, Qatar, Sudan and Germany commemorated International Women’s Day with various programs depicting the role of Eritrean women in the armed struggle for independence and the nation-building process. They further voiced staunch resistance against the unjust anti-Eritrea UN sanction, and expressed readiness to back up the national development drive.

Speaking at the occasions in which cultural shows were also staged, Mr. Tesfamichael Gerahtu, the Eritrean Ambassador to the UK and Ireland, explained that Eritrean women are playing major role in the nation-building process as in the armed struggle. He also noted that that the specialty of the event lies on the fact that it is being commemorated at a time when anti-Eritrea agendas have ended up in fiasco.

Likewise, the Eritrean Ambassador to Sudan, Mr. Mohammed Seid Mantai, lauded the EPLF’s commitment towards ensuring gender equity vis-à-vis fighting against the Ethiopian forces of occupation.
