Gash-Barka region Assembly conducts 12th regular meeting

The Assembly of Gash-Barka region conducted 12th regular meeting last Monday, and called on the inhabitants to enhance participation in the ongoing development ventures such as that of education, health, agriculture and transport, and pertinent bodies to pursue community-based implementation approaches.

Barentu, 13 March 2013 – The Assembly of Gash-Barka region conducted 12th regular meeting last Monday, and called on the inhabitants to enhance participation in the ongoing development ventures such as that of education, health, agriculture and transport, and pertinent bodies to pursue community-based implementation approaches.

Mr. Osman Mohammed Ali, Chairman of the Assembly, on his part called on school administrations, parents and teachers to step up joint endeavors towards raising the number of school registration. He also noted the need for promoting integrated efforts as regards combating child and mother mortality vis-à-vis popular soil and water conservation undertakings targeting better agricultural output.

Moreover, the Assembly members heard reports by line ministries, and conducted in-depth discussion in this connection. The congressional meeting further adopted decisions as regards child participation in education, tax collection and livestock survey, among others.

The Administrator of Gash-Barka region, Mr. Mohammed Hamd, outlined the agricultural and infrastructural programs set for implementation in the region this year, and said that the role of the Assembly members is vital in this regard.
