Asmara, 18 March 2013 – Students of the College of Health, Asmara, are engaged in soil and water conservation undertaking in their spare time around Emba-Derho area.
Among the students, Saba Haile, Nahom Amanuel, Leila Khalid and Mohammed Idris-Ali pointed out that the initiative they have taken is part of the community-based development venture being carried out nationwide and expressed satisfaction with it. They further voiced conviction that the task would have significant impact in enriching vegetation of the area, and said that active participation was witnessed in the process.
Mr. Gebrai Tekle, head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Serejeqa sub-zone, disclosed that terraces have been built on more than 8 hectares through the undertaking which began on the 15th last month, and that various seedlings would be planted there next summer.
Mr. Nuredin Mohammed-Kasim, head of the School of Health Assistants, explained on his part that the venture was organized in collaboration with the Administration of the Central region and the Ministry of Health, and that remarkable accomplishment has been registered so far.
Moreover, the students expressed readiness to enhance participation in State affairs.
