The 25th commemoration of Nadew Command’s demise and the subsequent liberation of Afabet town, which has been taking place since the 17th of this month under the theme “Demise of Nadew Command: A Turning Point Feat,” concluded yesterday with patriotic zeal.
Afabet, 20 March 2013 – The 25th commemoration of Nadew Command’s demise and the subsequent liberation of Afabet town, which has been taking place since the 17th of this month under the theme “Demise of Nadew Command: A Turning Point Feat,” concluded yesterday with patriotic zeal.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Siraj Haji, chairman of the National Holidays Coordinating Committee in the Northern Red Sea region, lauded the active participation of the people and Administration of Afabet sub-zone, as well as various institutions in organizing the event.
The 3-day commemoration in which tens of thousands of nationals from inside the country and abroad took part, involved community camps, art exhibition, cultural carnival, commemoration of a book and display of documentary films, according to reports.
The commemoration participants on their part commended all those who played vital role in organizing the historic event, in addition to expressing satisfaction with the hospitality of the local inhabitants.
Moreover, general knowledge contests, camel racing, cultural shows and other entertainment programs were staged on the occasion.
