Ministry to dispose obsolete pesticides shortly

In a meeting it conducted today in Asmara city, the Ministry of Agriculture indicated that it would dispose obsolete pesticides shortly.

Asmara, 20 March 2013 – In a meeting it conducted today in Asmara city, the Ministry of Agriculture indicated that it would dispose obsolete pesticides shortly.

Mr. Tekleab Misgina, director general of the Regulatory Service Department, pointed out that there have been some instances of misuse and mistreatment in this connection during the past 5 years. He further disclosed that the Ministry has been strengthening communicational efforts as regards doing away with use of outdated chemical of this type.

“The current program would involve sound eradication approaches of the targeted solid and fluid chemicals, including a safe dumping site,” he elaborated.

The participants of the meeting put forth views pertaining to several issues.
