Students of EIT conduct popular campaign

As part of the reforestation programs being undertaken in the Central region students of the Eritrean Institute of Technology (EIT) are conducting effective popular campaign, disclosed Mr. Tesfom Mesfun, member of the Ministry of Agriculture Gala Nefhi sub-zone branch. Asmara, 22 March 2013- As part of the reforestation programs being undertaken in the Central region students of the Eritrean Institute of Technology (EIT) are conducting effective popular campaign, disclosed Mr. Tesfom Mesfun, member of the Ministry of Agriculture Gala Nefhi sub-zone branch.

He further explained that from the 330 hectares of land planned for reforestation for this year terraces have been already built on 150 hectares and for effective implementation of the program agricultural experts are participating in the campaign.

Mr. Yasin Mohammed, head of students’ affairs in the Institute, indicated that more than 4 thousand students are participating in the campaign that is being conducted two times per week. He further pointed out that since the program complements theory with practice, it has created a spirit of competitiveness and work ethics among the students.

The participants of the campaign noted the contribution of the campaign in changing the surrounding to greenery and enhancing water and soil conservation and that it has direct connection with their education. They also called for its sustainability.
