Eritreans residing in Sweden conduct peaceful demonstrations calling for civil and legal rights

Eritreans residing in different cities in Sweden conducted peaceful demonstration on 22 March, in Stockholm, calling for respect of their civil and legal rights and condemning the defamation of their community and the Homeland by some media outlets in that European country.

Stockholm, 25 March 2013- Eritreans residing in different cities in Sweden conducted peaceful demonstration on 22 March, in Stockholm, calling for respect of their civil and legal rights and condemning the defamation of their community and the Homeland by some media outlets in that European country.

The participants of the peaceful demonstration which include Eritrean members of the community, NUEW branch, Eritrean War Disabled Veterans Association, YPFDJ as well as students marched through the streets of Stockholm carrying placards containing different slogans and stopped in front of the Swedish parliament and delivered their message.

Mr. Biniam Mesgina, Chairperson of the Eritrean community in Sweden, pointed out that they held discussions with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding their demands, and that the officials promised that they would deliver their message to the concerned government institutions.

Representatives of the Eritrean community members also delivered message to the Ministry of Justice calling on Sweden to play its part in the implementation of the Eritrea Ethiopia boundary Commission’s ruling without pre-condition.
