Treatment of Tuberculosis increased by 90% in Central region

During a meeting conducted in Serejeka, at a regional level, on the occasion of 24 March, International Day of Tuberculosis Eradication, it was disclosed that the treatment of Tuberculosis in the region has increased by 90%.

Asmara, 25 March 2013- During a meeting conducted in Serejeka, at a regional level, on the occasion of 24 March, International Day of Tuberculosis Eradication, it was disclosed that the treatment of Tuberculosis in the region has increased by 90%.

Dr. Tesfai Solomon, Head of Ministry of Health in the region, explained that the outcome registered was due to coordinated efforts of all the stakeholders and called for conducting rigorous efforts in identifying the prevalence of Tuberculosis which is at its lowest stage.

Mr. Zerai Habtemariam, head of social services in Serejeka sub-zone, indicated on his part that the sub-zone would reinforce its efforts to eradicate Tuberculosis which only rewuires follow-up and without any cost.

Mr. Amanuel Girmatsion, head of agitation and information in the Health Ministry’s branch office, indicated that the International Day of Tuberculosis Eradication is an occasion during which we pledge to work hard for the control of Tuberculosis and that the responsibility is not to be left to the Ministry of Health. He further called on all concerned institutions to play their part.

During the occasion Mr. Teklehaimanot Girmatsion and Ms. Izgiamin Tesfai both of whom got curing from the diseases gave testimony and expressed appreciation for the treatment they received.
