Inhabitants of Awenjeli conduct popular campaign

The inhabitants of Awenjeli administrative area, Hagaz sub zone are conducting popular campaigns in efforts to ensure food security.

Asmara, 27 March 2013: The inhabitants of Awenjeli administrative area, Hagaz sub zone are conducting popular campaigns in efforts to ensure food security.

In an interview they conducted with ERINA, the inhabitants indicated that the main goal of the undertaking is to restore eroded land and that they have been actively engaged in the construction of terraces and embankments since the beginning of this year.

Among the inhabitants, Mr. Saleh Ibrahim Rakin said that they are conducting successful campaign in an organized manner and that they have plans to extend the undertaking in the future.

Furthermore, the Administrator of Aweljeli administrative area, Mr. Ibrahim Jimi’e said on his part that successful popular campaign has so far been carried out upon around 50 hectares of land in the Administrative area alone.
