The inhabitants of different administrative areas in Molqi sub-zone are conducting soil and water conservation popular campaigns, according to Mr. Woldeyesus Tekie, Head of MOA branch in the sub-zone. Molqi, 1 April 2013- The inhabitants of different administrative areas in Molqi sub-zone are conducting soil and water conservation popular campaigns, according to Mr. Woldeyesus Tekie, Head of MOA branch in the sub-zone.
He further explained that the objective of the popular campaigns is to promote soil and water conservation, control erosion and create calm to the environment and that the inhabitants have been conducting the campaign since mid-January organized by their respective Administrative areas.
He also indicated that so far 19 thousand meters of terraces have been built in the Molqi administrative area alone, and that similar activities are being undertaken in the other Administrative areas.
From the participants of the popular campaign, Mr. Fiseha Fikrei and Ms. Tiebe Gebre explained that the popular campaign aimed at soil and water conservation would help them raise agricultural produce and that the inhabitants are diligently participating in the program.
Priest Ye’ebio Kesete, work manager in the Molqi Administrative area, indicated that the popular campaign is being conducted three days a week and that positive outcome is being registered.
