The Ministry of Education today conducted an assessment meeting in Asmara as regards Summer Work Program (SWP).
Asmara, 12 April 2013 – The Ministry of Education today conducted an assessment meeting in Asmara as regards Summer Work Program (SWP).
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Petros Hailemariam, director general of Research and Human Resource Development department in the Ministry, explained that the Program has been conducted annually with a view to making an impact targeting environmental conservation, in addition to backing national endeavors of ensuring food security. He further indicated that the Program provides groundwork for nurturing norm of work, and called on pertinent bodies to step up integrated endeavors in this regard for better outcome.
Also speaking at the meeting, Mr. Fitwi Woldegiorgis, Coordinator of SWP, disclosed that the program involved around 320,000 participants last year, 30% of whom are females. Moreover, he pointed out that active participation was witnessed in the process that involved a government budget of 187 million Nakfa.
The participants of the meeting conducted extensive discussion and put forth views pertaining to several issues.
