Central region: Children with autism and downs syndrome witnessing improvement upon exposure to educational environment
The Administration of Godaif Elementary School, Asmara, indicated that children with autism and downs syndrome are witnessing improvement in line with the available educational opportunities for them. Asmara, 13 April 2013 – The Administration of Godaif Elementary School, Asmara, indicated that children with autism and downs syndrome are witnessing improvement in line with the available educational opportunities for them.
Mr. Tareqe B’idu, director of the school, pointed out that the Ministry has been engaged in expanding educational opportunities for such citizens since 2008, and expressed satisfaction with the psychological development they are demonstrating.
Ms. Haimanot Kiflu, a teacher, said on her part that such exposure has provided groundwork for the children to possess self-confidence and sense of socialization, and that such behavioral progress attests to the extent to which they have been taken care of. She further disclosed that some of them have started attending regular classes, and called on pertinent bodies and the citizenry to extend a helping hand towards launching further programs to this end.
Among the students, Daniel Gebrekidan and Selam Fisehaye lauded their teachers for the tending manner, in addition to the service being rendered by the school.
