Inhabitants of Shimtombosa and Adi-Chigono Administrative areas engage in popular environmental hygiene venture
The Administration of Mai-Mine sub-zone indicated that the inhabitants of Shimtombosa and Adi-Chigono Administrative areas are carrying out a campaign regarding environmental hygiene. Mai-Mine, 13 April 2013 – The Administration of Mai-Mine sub-zone indicated that the inhabitants of Shimtombosa and Adi-Chigono Administrative areas are carrying out a campaign regarding environmental hygiene.
Speaking at a meeting pertaining to evaluation of the ongoing community undertaking, Mr. Rezene Fissaha, head of social service in the Southern region, made note of the significance of maintaining environmental health as regards safeguarding community wellbeing. He further expressed appreciation for the popular initiative, and called on fellow inhabitants to emulate it.
In the same vein, Mr. Isaias Araya from the Health Ministry’s branch in the region pointed out that promoting environmental hygiene is sound means of combating incidence of various communicable diseases, and that 20 villages in the sub-zone have adopted use of soak-pit latrines in an impressive way.
Among the participants, Mr. Michael Abraha and Ms. Hadinet Woldai said that the venture is accompanied by remarkable prevalence of community awareness in this regard.
