Keren, 15 April 2013 – Ms. Asha Mahmoud, Chairman of the Anseba region’s Assembly said that integrated effort on the part of pertinent bodies is a vital prerequisite as regards nurturing dynamic youths. She made the remark at a meeting of the NUEYS branch in the region, during which it was stated that youths constitute the driving force towards change, and lauded the Union’s farsighted commitment to this end.
Reports were also presented at the meeting targeting efforts made towards overcoming harmful cultural practices such as childhood marriage, as well as reinforcement of organizational capacity and youth awareness regarding political issues, among others. Moreover, the participants of the meeting assessed that active youth participation is being witnessed in soil and water conservation ventures, which are being conducted in line with national endeavors of ensuring food security.
Youth festivals organized through collaboration between NUEYS and the Education Ministry’s branch in Anseba region have made the necessary impact as regards exchange of experience and promoting organizational impact. Besides, more than 550 youths became beneficiaries of trainings that lasted for 6 to 9 months, and the majority of them could improve their livelihood on the basis of such benefit, according to reports.
Furthermore, Mr. Luigi Hussein, head of the NUEYS branch in the region, disclosed that the youth centers in Hamelmalo and Hagaz have been renovated through collaboration between the Union and the communities.
