Dekemhare, 16 April 2013 – The inhabitants of Keih-Kor village, Dekemhare sub-zone, are engaged in the construction of water diversion canals continuing the accomplishment registered by the government last year at a total expenditure of more than 7 million Nakfa. They further indicated that the community-led venture is being carried out through integrating labor and financial resources, as well as machinery with a view to harnessing water drainages from the escarpments of Dekemhare, Afelba and Sesah.

Among farmers, Mr. Tekhlezgi Gebreyohanes, Sium Bariamichael and Mr. Tesfamariam Tedla explained that the undertaking is motivated by the strategic nature of the cherished goal, and that they anticipate bountiful harvest following its accomplishment.

Mr. Dawit Firezgi, Administrator of Metsalu Administrative area, pointed out that remarkable achievement was registered this year as regards preparation of farmland and renovation, as well as construction of water diversion canals on the basis of community initiatives. Moreover, he expressed appreciation for the active popular participation witnessed in the process.
