Popular water and soil conservation campaign underway in Keren sub-zone

The inhabitants of different Administrative areas in Keren sub-zone are conducting water and soil conservation campaigns, indicated Mr. Amha Gebrewohid, Administration head in the sub-zone.

 

Keren, 22 April 2013- The inhabitants of different Administrative areas in Keren sub-zone are conducting water and soil conservation campaigns, indicated Mr. Amha Gebrewohid, Administration head in the sub-zone.

He pointed out that thanks to water and soil conservation campaigns conducted over the past few years, most of the land resource in different areas has been enriched, and that significant activities are being conducted by the seven Administrative areas in the sub-zone to that end. He also said that the popular campaigns being conducted every year are of vital significance in nurturing culture of work.

Mr. Tesfazgi Itel, work manager of 02 Administrative area, on his part explained that the main objective of the campaign is to conserve flood water coming from high areas and turn it to the advantage of the people as well as building terraces on the barren land for reforestation. He also commended the participation of the people in the popular campaign.

From the participants, Mr. Redi’e Lijam said that the inhabitants are practically witnessing the outcome of the campaign.
