Popular water and soil conservation campaign under-way in Genfelom and Wazintet Administrative areas
The inhabitants of Genfelom and Wazintet Administrative areas, Hamelmalo sub-zone, stated that they are conducting popular water and soil conservation campaigns in a bid to increase agricultural produce.
Hamelmalo, 24 April 2013- The inhabitants of Genfelom and Wazintet Administrative areas, Hamelmalo sub-zone, stated that they are conducting popular water and soil conservation campaigns in a bid to increase agricultural produce.
In the popular campaign so far around 87 Km of terraces was put in place and water diversion schemes built, and that women have demonstrated active participation in the process.
Mr. Mohammed-Kier Humed, Administrator of Wazintet administrative area and Mr. Mohammed Idris, Administrator of Genfelom administrative area, explained that the popular campaigns they are under taking has contributed greenery of their area and coming of wild animals.
Ms. Halima Idris Hamid and Ms. Mecca Mohammed-Seid indicated that the local inhabitants are participating in the popular campaign so as to finalize the task before the onset of the rainy season.
Likewise, Mr. Bekit Nafi’e and Mr. Jimi’e Bekit, inhabitants of Gireshin and Gam, expressed satisfaction to witness flood waters from the mountains of Gilindi, Agonbusta, Abandes, Kirar, Meshalit, Bab-Kiwa’e, Mislit and Midget being conserved for agricultural use.
