The Administration of Gash-Barka region has called for stepped-up community participation regarding malaria control for still more gratifying accomplishment.

Tessenei, 27 April 2013 – The Administration of Gash-Barka region has called for stepped-up community participation regarding malaria control for still more gratifying accomplishment.

Speaking at the commemoration of World Malaria Day at regional level in Tessenei city, Mr. Omar Mohammed, Managing Director of the region, pointed out that malaria eradication ventures in the region have witnessed commendable outcome. He also called for sustained popular initiatives targeting eradication of swamps so as to realize the cherished national goal in this regard.

Dr. Leul Banteyirga, head of the Health Ministry’s branch in the region, indicated that the nation’s endeavors pertaining to malaria control have given rise to exemplary global image, and called on the inhabitants to uphold their spirit of collaboration in maintaining such virtue. He further called on them to demonstrate prioritized care for mothers and children in this connection.

Mr. Teklebirhan Gebrewold, Administrator of Tessenei sub-zone, said on his part that further organized campaign would be conducted in pursuit of eradication of the disease, and called for enhanced communicational and community sensitization effort by health professionals.
