The members of Gash-Barka region Assembly have called for stepped-up community participation in the national development drive.
Gogne, 27 April 2013 – The members of Gash-Barka region Assembly have called for stepped-up community participation in the national development drive. They made the call at a meeting with the inhabitants of Asheli Administrative area, Gogne sub-zone, during which it was stated that popular role is vital in the implementation of development programs, and that communities should strive to improve their livelihood on the basis of the programs.
Among the Assembly members, Mr. Hassan Ibrahim indicated that the regional Assembly is working in a prioritized manner as regards following up the development process and laying the necessary groundwork for popular participation, besides its commitment towards safeguarding community benefit from the programs. The cherished goal clearly entails that inhabitants of remote areas become primary beneficiaries of such joint development activities.
In the same vein, Mr. Hamd Ambo pointed out that the putting in place of various social service facilities in Gogne sub-zone has made positive impact in improving the livelihood of the inhabitants, and said that putting up further integrated efforts is necessary to raise female participation in education.
Among the inhabitants, Mr. Ali Genat and Mr. Abdalla Idris expressed readiness to step up participation in the implementation of development programs.
