Sustainability of sports activities would be ensured if inculcated on children

During the 3rd Children’s Sports festival conducted on 27 April at Asmara Stadium, in which Ministers, senior Government officials, invited guests as well as parents and students participated, Mr. Endrias Asmerom, Head of Sports Commission of the Central region, expressed that sports activities would only be sustainable if inculcated on children.

Asmara, 28 April 2013- During the 3rd Children’s Sports festival conducted on 27 April at Asmara Stadium, in which Ministers, senior Government officials, invited guests as well as parents and students participated, Mr. Endrias Asmerom, Head of Sports Commission of the Central region, expressed that sports activities would only be sustainable if inculcated on children.

He further pointed out that since sport is part of social sciences the society should shoulder the responsibility for its administration and that training children is the basis for its development.

More over, Mr. Endrias explained that huge budget has been allocated by the Sports Commission of the Central region in cooperation with stakeholders towards sports development in the region and that in the 13 administrative areas and 3 sub-zones regular weekly training is being provided to 3,800 children out of which 800 females.

He also indicated that 30 new paly grounds have been identified for construction and maintenance and that contract of 6 million Kakfa has been signed to renovate the old Ferovia play ground.

At the festival children’s sports displays as well as different cultural shows have been staged.
