Inhabitants of Afelba conducting popular campaign

The inhabitants of Afelba, Dekemhare sub-zone, are conducting popular water and soil conservation campaign.

Dekemhare, 1 May 2013- The inhabitants of Afelba, Dekemhare sub-zone, are conducting popular water and soil conservation campaign.

Mr. Kidane Gebreyesus, Administrator of Afelba administrative area, indicated that in the popular campaign that began in the month of February, 50 hectares have so far been leveled for farming and that has helped enrich the soil.

From the inhabitants, Priest Tekle Zienagebriel said that the leveled land has already been cultivated and that they would continue the campaign to make sure that the land is not eroded and flood water from the mountains would not be wasted.

Mr. Tsegai Hailu, member of the Agriculture Ministry in the sub-zone, explained that the objective of the campaign is to ensure food security and that encouraging result is being registered.
Afelba is located 7 km north-east of Dekemhare city.
