Inhabitants of Dengolo Administrative area express readiness to back up national endeavors in connection with forestry

The inhabitants of Dengolo Administrative area, Ginda sub-zone, have expressed readiness to back up national endeavors in connection with forestry, as well as soil and water conservation.

Ginda, 2 May 2013 – The inhabitants of Dengolo Administrative area, Ginda sub-zone, have expressed readiness to back up national endeavors in connection with forestry, as well as soil and water conservation. They further indicated that they are striving to play active role in preservation of the diverse indigenous trees there which constitute an important part of tourism resources in the area.

One of the wood enclosure guards, Mr. Ismail Osman explained that indigenous trees are in good condition, and called on the Ministry of Agriculture to sustain implementation of research-based afforestation ventures in the area, and on the local inhabitants to extend a helping hand to this end.

Among village development committee members, Ms. Halima Saleh, Mr. Hamd Ibrahim and Ms. Senait Tekie pointed out that community awareness in this regard is on the rise, and noted the need to revitalize afforestation tasks in the area through which the Asmara-Massawa route crosses to a large extent.
