Inhabitants of Adi-Guaedad and Merhano engage in farm land preparation ventures

Reports indicated that the inhabitants of Adi-Guaedad and Merhano villages, Gala-Nefhi sub-zone, are carrying out preparations for rain-fed farming as the rainy season approaches.

Asmara, 4 May 2013 – Reports indicated that the inhabitants of Adi-Guaedad and Merhano villages, Gala-Nefhi sub-zone, are carrying out preparations for rain-fed farming as the rainy season approaches.

Mr. Gebrekidan Tewoldebirhan, Administrator of Adi-Guaedad, said that the venture is part of the community-based undertakings being carried out at national level, and that more than 700 manpower has been deployed with a view to covering more than 300 hectares on the basis of daily engagement. Among the inhabitants of the villages, Ms. Ni’ema Ahmed, Mr. Gebresilasie Tsegai and Mr. Berhane Moba’e made note of the vitality of implementing soil and water conservation techniques within the farming area, and lauded the government for extending machinery support in the process.

Ms. Nigisti Abraham, Administrator of Merhano, stated that active popular participation is being witnessed in the undertaking which is due to be finalized before the onset of the rainy season.
