The NUEW branch in the Southern Red Sea region has organized seminar for female teachers in the port city of Assab with a view to enhancing their role as regards doing away with harmful customary practices.

Assab, 8 May 2013 – The NUEW branch in the Southern Red Sea region has organized seminar for female teachers in the port city of Assab with a view to enhancing their role as regards doing away with harmful customary practices.  It was stated in the seminar that such role is a vital prerequisite in the process of nurturing the desired behavioral change to this end.

Ms. Weini Negash, head of the branch office, said that national development can be attained only through equitable gender participation, and called for stepped-up community participation as regards to ensuring higher female participation in education.

The seminar participants lauded the Union’s commitment in promoting educational impact among its members, and expressed readiness to strive for the realization of the cherished goal.
