Inhabitants of Begu Administrative area express satisfaction with water supply

The inhabitants of Begu Administrative area have expressed satisfaction with water supply, which attained the desired level following the endeavors made to enrich water resources in the area, including the construction of ponds along Tinqulahas Escarpment.

Keren, 9 May 2013 – The inhabitants of Begu Administrative area have expressed satisfaction with water supply, which attained the desired level following the endeavors made to enrich water resources in the area, including the construction of ponds along Tinqulahas Escarpment.

Among the inhabitants, Mr. Gebremeskel Araya and Mr. Melake Gebre indicated that they used to face major challenges in connection with water scarcity, and that they are presently in a position to secure ample water supply, including for livestock.

In the same vein, Mr. Sultan Kifle, Administrator of Begu Administrative area, pointed out that the community used to waste considerable time and energy in fetching water, and that they are exerting further efforts to ensure sustainability of water reserve.

Mr. Amha Gebrewahid from the sub-zonal Administration of Keren lauded the community’s active participation in the construction of the ponds, which role was crucial in the process.
