Nacfa, 10 May 2013 – The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Nacfa sub-zone indicated that soil and water conservation, as well as afforestation community undertakings are making remarkable impact regarding environmental stability.

Mr. Adem Mohammed, from the branch office, pointed out that indigenous trees within the enclosures in Baqla and Mariet Administrative areas are in good condition, giving rise to conducive environment for wild animals and proliferation of endangered wild olive trees.

The fact that the area was battleground during the armed struggle for independence has caused significant loss pertaining to biodiversity, and sustained community participation is vital as regards restoring the lost environmental resources, he added.

Reports indicate that the local inhabitants are developing a friendly norm towards conservation of trees, and that the Administrations would work jointly to expand the current scope of wood enclosure in the area, comprising a total breadth of more than 2,000 hectares.
