The Teachers’ Association branch in the Central region conducted various activities from April 24 to May 12 in connection with Independence Day observance. The activities include sports, general knowledge, oratory and literary contests among teachers.

Asmara, 14 May 2013 – The Teachers’ Association branch in the Central region conducted various activities from April 24 to May 12 in connection with Independence Day observance. The activities include sports, general knowledge, oratory and literary contests among teachers.

Mr. Sultan Seid, Chairman of the NUEYS, expressed appreciation for the way the contests were organized, and called on youth teachers to demonstrate exemplary role in their career and other activities.

Mr. Gellani Ibrahim, Acting head of the Union’s branch in the Central region, explained that the activities were conducted with a view to sharing the spirit of national freedom and lay groundwork for exchange of experience among teachers. He further noted the major role of teachers in the process of nurturing dynamic youths, and called on them to step up participation in the nation-building process.

Moreover, teachers who demonstrated outstanding performance in the contests were awarded.
