Mr. Girmai Berhe, from the technical unit of the National Holidays Coordinating Committee, indicated that stepped-up efforts have been made on the part of government bodies and nationals to celebrate the momentous Day with fervor, part of it being the embellishment of the capital’s streets.
Accordingly, the Liberty, Martyrs, Denden, Mai-Bela, Embaderho and Afabet Avenues, as well as the Bahti-Meskeren Square have been decorated adequately, besides the setting up of a large screen at Cathedral area with a view to broadcasting live show of the official celebrations of the Day. Moreover, cultural shows would be staged at 7 spots along the Liberty Avenue starting from tomorrow, while the stage and settings have been prepared at Bahti-Meskeren Square for various artistic performances expected to be staged on the 17th and 18th this week.
Among the city residents, Ms. Hadas Tewoldebirhan and Ms. Afiet Mohammed noted the way nationals deeply cherish Independence Day, and said that the prevailing spirit of staunch resistance on the part of the people against anti-Eritrea agendas attests to such reality.
