Asmara, 15 May 2013 – Bidho National Association has called for enhanced societal role regarding HIV/AIDS prevention. It made the call at its annual meeting which was conducted yesterday.
Dr. Zemuy Alemu, coordinator of the Health Ministry’s regional branches, indicated that the Government has been exerting stepped-up endeavors as regards safeguarding the wellbeing of nationals in general, and that of the ones living with HIV in particular. Accordingly, such efforts include ensuring reliable medical service and ample supply of drugs.
Dr. Zemuy further pointed out that the trend of HIV infection in the country is on the decline thanks to the joint ventures accomplished by the Ministry and the Association, which include VCT and volunteer-based promotional activities.
Moreover, it was stated in the annual report that the Association has made remarkable impact pertaining to rehabilitation of members and promoting their production capacity.
Mr. Solomon Gebrekidan. Chairman of the Association, asserted that it would strive to ensure lower level of HIV/AIDS morbidity within the coming 5 years. He also lauded the role of government bodies, stakeholders and the citizenry in backing the Association’s endeavors.
