Debarwa town registers significant development over the past 22 years: Report

The sub-zonal Administration of Debarwa stated that the town has registered significant development in line with the programs implemented over the past 22 years targeting improvement of the community’s livelihood.

Debarwa, 16 May 2013 – The sub-zonal Administration of Debarwa stated that the town has registered significant development in line with the programs implemented over the past 22 years targeting improvement of the community’s livelihood.

Ms. Le’ul Bisrat, Administrator of the sub-zone, disclosed that the majority of the villages in the locality have become beneficiaries of transport, electricity and communication services, besides the mapping out of the town’s master plan and establishment of various factories, as well as construction of a number of residential houses. She further indicated that rural electrification process is on a good pace, while the practice of irrigation farming is on the rise in line with the construction of various micro-dams.

Moreover, Ms. Le’ul said that community undertakings have become a springboard to significant accomplishments pertaining to soil and water conservation, renovation of roads and social service facilities, as well as other activities.

Among exemplary irrigation farmers, Mr. Tesfai Kaleab and Mr. Hadgu Semere stated that water resources in the locality have fostered agricultural output there, and thus giving rise to the improvement of the livelihood of several farmers.
