Asmara, 18 May 2013 – A number of Independence Day observance participants who took part in the concert staged at Bahti-Meskeren square said that the spirit of popular resistance against external conspiracies on the part of citizens is a living national value, and that it is intact among the young generation.

Among the nationals, Ms. Amna Ismail, Ms. Gidei Kibreab, Mr. Amanuel Tekhlezgi and Ms. Kedija Mohammed-Nigus voiced impressions regarding the way the citizenry deeply cherishes the momentous Day, and pointed out that nationals celebrate it with such abiding zeal. Moreover, they indicated that the colorful atmosphere of Independence Day anniversary is a good opportunity to highlight the prevailing sprit of national unity. The nationals further voiced staunch resistance against anti-Eritrea agendas.

Likewise, Mr. Yemane Ogbagiorgis living in Germany expressed satisfaction with celebrating the Day in the Homeland, and asserted that the extent to which Eritrean citizens value independence is related to the cost they paid to this end.
