Eritrean nationals in Stockholm celebrate 22nd Independence Day anniversary with patriotic zeal

Eritrean nationals in Stockholm and its environs celebrated the 22nd Independence Day anniversary on 18 May with patriotic zeal under the theme “ERITREA – Shield of Resilience and Nobility of Work”.

Asamara, 21 May 2013- Eritrean nationals in Stockholm and its environs celebrated the 22nd Independence Day anniversary on 18 May with patriotic zeal under the theme “ERITREA – Shield of Resilience and Nobility of Work”.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Yonas Mana, Charge D’Affaires of the Eritrean Embassy in the Scandinavian countries, explained that preserving sovereignty is challenging as that of bringing independence and that it is the responsibility of every citizen to live up to the task.
Mr. Alem Teklegiorgis, Chairperson of Holidays Coordinating Committee, who said that “Independence Day is the fruit of our struggle and sacrifice”, indicated that the Eritrean people are celebrating Independence Day at a time in which the nation is progressing into higher economic development foiling external conspiracies against the Homeland and that attests to the strength and steadfastness of the people.

The participants on their part said that bequeathing developed and strong Eritrea to generations is the message of Independence Day celebrations and that they would stand alongside their people and government for the success of development programs and conduct staunch resistance against external conspiracies.

During the occasion, awards were handed over to winners in different sports competitions. Eritrean singers residing in Sweden also added color to the event.
