Gash-Bark region celebrates Independence Day anniversary with patriotic zeal
The 22nd Independence anniversary Day was celebrated in Gash Barka region on May 20 at a regional level.
Barentu, 21 May 2013-The 22nd Independence anniversary Day was celebrated in Gash Barka region on May 20 at a regional level.
During the occasion in which Mr. Al-Amin Mohammed-Seid, Secrtary of the PFDJ, Ministers, Army Commanders, heads of national associations as well as thousands of Nationals took part, Mr. Mohammed Hamid, Administrator of the region, said that regardless of the external conspiracies to deter the country’s economic development the people and Government of Eritrea are registering significant achievements without being hostage to such conspiracies.
He further out lined the development programs implemented during the past years of independence and that expansion of educational and health services, judicious use of land and water, increased agricultural produce, improved administrative mechanism, ensuring safety and productivity of livestock as well as judicious use of dams, water diversion canals, as well as building water containers are future development programs mapped out in the region.
Mr. Franko Kubaba, Administrator of Barentu city, on his part called for strengthening popular participation and enhancing resistance to preserve the sovereignty of the Homeland.
Army march, music and dramas depicting the sacrifice paid for independence and musical dramas added color to the event.
