Independence Day observed with fervor in Anseba region

The 22nd Independence Day anniversary was observed yesterday with fervor at regional level in Keren city in the presence of Mr. Al-Amin Mohammed-Seid, Secretary of the PFDJ, Ministers, Military Commanders and religious leaders.

Keren, 22 May 2013 – The 22nd Independence Day anniversary was observed yesterday with fervor at regional level in Keren city in the presence of Mr. Al-Amin Mohammed-Seid, Secretary of the PFDJ, Ministers, Military Commanders and religious leaders.

Speaking on the occasion, the Administrator of Anseba region, Mr. Gergis Girmai, pointed out that the specialty of the event rests on the fact that it is being celebrated at a time when the nation has witnessed remarkable development progress, while anti-Eritrea agendas ended up in fiasco. He further congratulated nationals at home and abroad, including EDF members, and gave briefings regarding the development accomplishments registered in the region over the past 22 years.

In the same vein, Mr. Tekie Keleta, Mayor of Keren, made remarks as regards the overall price paid by nationals for independence vis-à-vis the heroic feats witnessed during the armed struggle, and commended those who demonstrated active participation in organizing the celebration.

Impressive cultural performances were staged during the observance that included carnival shows along city streets, reports indicated.
