Asmara, 27 May 2013 – Reports indicated that various Eritrean communities abroad celebrated Independence Day with patriotic zeal and voiced staunch resistance against anti-Eritrea agendas.
The Eritrean community members in Oakland, US, organized colorful celebration in connection with the momentous day, including a cultural show. Speaking on the occasion, Foreign Minister Osman Saleh gave detailed briefings regarding the national foreign policies vis-à-vis the role of public diplomacy to this end, and called on the nationals to become primary beneficiaries of the new investment prospects in the Homeland.
Meanwhile, Eritrean community members in the US city of Atlanta reiterated readiness to honor the trust of martyrs during their celebration, and asserted that the event in an occasion during which nationals should assess their participation in State affairs. Moreover, the community members said that they would mount participation in the national development ventures. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Yemane Gebreab, Head of Political Affairs at the PFDJ, pointed out that external conspiracies woven against the nation have ended up in fiasco thanks to the steadfastness of the Eritrean people and its leadership, and that the nation is striving to ensure sustainable economic development.
