Students in Anseba region have been called upon to keep intact cultural values during a Student Week organized in Keren city.

Keren, 3 June 2013 – Students in Anseba region have been called upon to keep intact cultural values during a Student Week organized in Keren city.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Adem Idris, head of cultural affairs at the Education Ministry’s branch in the region, explained that national development could be ensured only on the basis of nurturing knowledgeable and skillful youths, and urged students to step up efforts to this end. He further called on them to judiciously utilize the educational opportunity accorded them at government expenditure, and indicated that such event is a major prerequisite as regards promoting extra-curricular activities.

The 5-day event in which various artistic, sports and general knowledge contests were staged witnessed the participation of around 1,000 students representing all sub-zones.

Among the participating students, Mensura Kimi’e and Nejat Mohammed expressed conviction that Student Week is a good opportunity for popularizing cultural values and exchange of experience among student’s communities.
