The Education Ministry’s branch in the Southern region indicated that it has registered an impressive accomplishment over the past 22 years as regards promoting the participation of children and youths in education and putting in place the necessary infrastructure thereof.
Asmara, 4 June 2013 – The Education Ministry’s branch in the Southern region indicated that it has registered an impressive accomplishment over the past 22 years as regards promoting the participation of children and youths in education and putting in place the necessary infrastructure thereof.
Accordingly, the number of kindergartens and Elementary schools in the region stood at 15 and 61 respectively, which numbers presently stand at 127 and 242. Moreover, the number of Junior schools grew from 19 to 87, while High Schools have shown 26% growth.
In total, the number of educational institutions in the region has increased by more than threefold over the specified time vis-à-vis equivalent growth in the number of teachers.
Moreover, the branch office pointed out that community participation is a vital prerequisite in the corresponding endeavors being exerted towards fostering the quality of education.
