Mai-Aini, 8 June 2013 – Reports indicated that extensive livestock vaccination campaigns have been conducted in Debarwa and Mai-Aini sub-zones targeting internal and external parasites.
Accordingly, the campaign in Debarwa area, in which higher awareness of farmers was witnessed, involved 31 stations.
Mr. Andebirhan Gebreyesus from the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Debarwa sub-zone disclosed that more than 82,000 livestock have been immunized, and called on farmers to do away with unwarranted use of medicines.
Mr. Woldeab Bekuretsion, Administrator of Adi-Logo area, said that such accomplishment would have remarkable impact in raising productivity in the domain of dairy, and called for the consistency of the initiative.
Meanwhile, it is believed that more than 90% of livestock in Mai-Aini sub-zone have been immunized through the recent campaign, in the process of which farmers demonstrated appreciable collaboration, according to reports. Among the inhabitants, Mr. Berhane Gebremedhin and Mr. Gerezgiher Bahta expressed satisfaction with the free veterinary service.
