Inhabitants of Tekonda’e express satisfaction with the introduction of smokeless oven

The inhabitants of Tekonda’e, Minah and Mesalih, Adi-Keih sub-zone, said that the introduction of smokeless oven to their villages has been instrumental in saving their time from going far to fetch fire wood and in safeguarding the health of women, according to Ms. Kahsa Mehari, head of social welfare in the sub-zone.

Adi-Keih, 10 June 2013- The inhabitants of Tekonda’e, Minah and Mesalih, Adi-Keih sub-zone, said that the introduction of smokeless oven to their villages has been instrumental in saving their time from going far to fetch fire wood and in safeguarding the health of women, according to Ms. Kahsa Mehari, head of social welfare in the sub-zone.

He further indicated that the smokeless oven has significant contribution in reducing deforestation and diseases due to smoke and lack of sanitation, and that the Agriculture Ministry has trained 35 women for the implementation of the program.

From the beneficiaries, Ms. Genet Yibletsom, inhabitant of Tekonda’e, said that she has benefited a lot from the smokeless oven, and called for its wider application.

Ms. Hiwot Beraki and Ms. Tsega Gebrehiwot on their part pointed out that the introduction of the smokeless oven is aimed at easing women’s burden and improving their livelihood, and that each development would motivate increased productivity.
Tekonda’e sub-zone is located 5 k.m south of Adi-Keih.
