Keren city: Mayor calls on school administrations to step up participation in environmental conservation

The Mayor of Keren, Mr. Tekie Keleta, called on school administrations to step up participation in endeavors towards promoting environmental conservation, especially in afforestation. He made the call during his tour to the areas of Shinara, Lebeda and Aribsera, on the occasion of which he called for higher popular initiative on the part of the inhabitants to this end.

Keren, 10 June 2013 – The Mayor of Keren, Mr. Tekie Keleta, called on school administrations to step up participation in endeavors towards promoting environmental conservation, especially in afforestation. He made the call during his tour to the areas of Shinara, Lebeda and Aribsera, on the occasion of which he called for higher popular initiative on the part of the inhabitants to this end.

Brother Gebrekidan Andemariam, director of the school in Shinara, pointed out that it could win exemplary image regarding afforestation thanks to the joint collaboration witnessed among students, parents and teachers. He further disclosed that the trees planted within the compound of the school have flourished well.

Reports indicate that the school has shown remarkable growth in the number of student admission from year to year, especially that of females.
