Sports and cultural competitions among schools play significant role in reinforcing students’ capacity

During the closing ceremony conducted on 8 June at Asmara Stadium, Ms. Halima Mohammed, Head of the MOE branch office in the Central region, explained that the sports and cultural competitions among schools being conducted every year play significant role in reinforcing all rounded capacity of students.

Asmara, 10 June 2013- During the closing ceremony conducted on 8 June at Asmara Stadium, Ms. Halima Mohammed, Head of the MOE branch office in the Central region, explained that the sports and cultural competitions among schools being conducted every year play significant role in reinforcing all rounded capacity of students.
Speaking at the ceremony in which Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwot, Administrator of Central region,

M/General Romodan Osman Awoliai and other invited guests took part, Ms. Halima said that the competitions are conducted every year among all schools from kindergarten to High School levels, and as a result significant contribution is being made as regards nurturing positive competitiveness among students and contributing to physical fitness.

Mr. Estifanos Gebrehiwot, head of sports, culture and health in the region, on his part indicated that the objective of the competitions is to develop the physical and mental capacity of students and that the competition in which both genders from 297 schools participated included football, handball, basketball, athletics as well as cycling competitions.

Different awards were presented to winner sub-zones and schools during the ceremony.
