Inhabitants of Laba Administrative area engage in soil and water conservation venture

The inhabitants of Laba Administrative area, Nacfa sub-zone, are engaged in soil and water conservation venture with a view to enriching water resources in the area.

Nacfa, 14 June 2013 – The inhabitants of Laba Administrative area, Nacfa sub-zone, are engaged in soil and water conservation venture with a view to enriching water resources in the area.

They further indicated that the community-led undertaking involves the construction of terraces and water catchment walls, besides the setting up of enclosures. Subsequently, a mountain in the locality has been terraced fully, while two ponds have been put in place.

Among the inhabitants, Mr. Saleh Idris, Mr. Hamd Nasa’e, Ms. Bekita Osman and Mr. Idris Osman disclosed that more than 5,000 tree seedlings have been planted, in addition to the preparation of more holes for afforestation activities during the rainy season. They also said that active community participation is being witnessed in the process.
