Asmara, 17 June 2013 – The Ministry of Health indicated that it is exerting endeavors towards enhancing service quality on the basis of human resource development.
Mr. Yemane Haile, Acting head of policy and planning as well as human resource development in the Ministry, pointed out that the Associate Nursing Schools in Barentu, Mendefera and Ginda have been graduating more than 200 youths with certificate annually with a view to furthering health service outreach in remote areas. He further disclosed that such graduates are provided with opportunities to upgrade their academic portfolio to diploma and Bachelor’s Degree levels, while more than 150 staff members have studied Nursing and Management based on distance learning.
Accordingly, the Ministry is in a position to nurture health professionals specializing in Maternity, Pediatrics and General Surgery, in addition to the efforts made to upgrade expertise through on-the-job training and various exposures overseas.
