Northern Red Sea region: Call made for integrated efforts as regards nurturing competitive sportspersons

The Federations’ branches in the Northern Red Sea region have called for integrated efforts towards nurturing competitive sportspersons.

Massawa, 17 June 2013 – The Federations’ branches in the Northern Red Sea region have called for integrated efforts towards nurturing competitive sportspersons. They made the call at a joint assessment meeting that witnessed participation of sportspersons and sub-zonal Administrators.

The participants of the meeting scrutinized the work accomplishments in various sports domains over the past 4 years, conducted an in-depth discussion and put forth views pertaining to several issues.

In a report he presented on the occasion, Mr. Hisabu Gebresilasie, sports commissioner in the region, pointed out that the Federations have so far registered remarkable accomplishments in their respective domains, especially pursuing sports management, coaching, children’s football and construction of beach volleyball fields, among others.

In the same vein, the National Sports Commissioner, Maj. General Ramadan Osman Awliyai, said that stepped-up endeavors have been exerted with a view to reinforcing sports activities, and that the nurturing of a number of internationally competitive sportspersons attests to this.

Also speaking on the occasion, the Administrator of the Northern Red Sea region, Ms. Tsigereda Woldegiorgis, indicated that the region is endowed with various resources for coastal area-bound sports activities, and called on pertinent bodies as well as the inhabitants to work in collaboration to this end.
