Eritrean community members in the Italian city of Milan and its environs commemorated Martyrs Day with patriotic zeal.

Asmara, 18 June 2013 – Eritrean community members in the Italian city of Milan and its environs commemorated Martyrs Day with patriotic zeal. The nationals reiterated readiness to honor the trust of fallen heroes during the event that witnessed candlelight parade.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Michael Isaac, chairman of the community, pointed out that the event is an occasion during which nationals should reiterate their readiness to care for the families of martyrs. Similarly, Mr. Rusom Gebregiorgis, Eritrea’s Consul General in Milan, indicated that the event is an occasion during which nationals should reiterate their commitment to the nation-building process, and called on the community members to mount staunch resistance against anti-Eritrea agendas. He further disclosed that the community members have so far extended a total of 170,729 Euros honoring the trust of martyrs, besides the regular care they have been taking for 10 families of fallen heroes over the past 6 years.

The event that was conducted on the 16th of this month from 4:00 PM to 8 PM witnessed the staging of different artistic performances depicting the Eritrean people’s heroic feats.
