More than 25 million Nakfa paid in benefit scheme to families of martyrs in Southern Red Sea region

The Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare’s branch in the Southern Red Sea region indicated that more than 25 million Nakfa has been paid in benefit scheme to families of martyrs over the past 18 months.

Massawa, 19 June 2013 – The Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare’s branch in the Southern Red Sea region indicated that more than 25 million Nakfa has been paid in benefit scheme to families of martyrs over the past 18 months.

Mr. Mohammed-Ali Bi’emnet, head of social welfare in the branch office, pointed out that the Government has been exerting continued efforts as regards supporting families of fallen heroes over the past 22 years, while a number of nationals residing abroad have taken appreciable initiative towards extending persistent care for such families. He further disclosed that a number of programs were launched with a view to enabling families of martyrs become self-supporting, and that the payments to the families are being made at relatively closer stations.

Mr. Mohammed-Ali also lauded the initiative being taken by nationals on individual and group basis a regards caring for families of martyrs.
