Nationals here in the Homeland and abroad conducted candlelight parade on the eve of Martyrs Day honoring the weighty tribute of fallen heroes.

Asmara, 20 June 2013 – Nationals here in the Homeland and abroad conducted candlelight parade on the eve of Martyrs Day honoring the weighty tribute of fallen heroes.

The parade in  Asmara which was staged along the Liberation Avenue witnessed participation of senior government and PFDJ officials as well as tens of thousands of city residents.

Speaking on the occasion, the Administrator of the Central region, Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, pointed out that the manner nationals mark the noble Day wherever they are attests to their readiness to honor the trust of martyrs, besides the prevailing national unity. He further indicated that the event is an occasion when nationals should reiterate readiness to step up participation in the nation-building process.

Among the participants of the parade, Ms. Hiwet Gebremariam, Mr. Kibreab Abraha and Ms. Jemila Mohammed said that honoring the trust of fallen heroes goes beyond the staging of such candlelit evening, and expressed deep conviction that the Day should be commemorated in a spirit of pride and patriotism.

In the same vein, Mr. Bereket Gebretinsae and Mr. Niguse Asmelash, citizens residing in France and Germany respectively, equally asserted that reiterating readiness of honoring the trust of martyrs in connection with the Day involves moral satisfaction. They further voiced satisfaction with sharing the spirit of the event among fellow nationals in the Homeland.
