The annual document on the State of World Children 2013 was launched today officially giving major focus on children with disabilities in the presence of government and PFDJ officials, religious leaders, invited guests, parents and disabled children.

Asmara, 24 June 2013 – The annual document on the State of World Children 2013 was launched today officially giving major focus on children with disabilities in the presence of government and PFDJ officials, religious leaders, invited guests, parents and disabled children.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of Labor and Human Welfare, Ms. Salma Hassan, indicated that the document is expected to make remarkable impact in not only reinforcing the national values in connection with disabled children but also bolstering governmental and popular efforts to this end. She further pointed out that the nation has acquired tangible experience that disability does not prevent from any activity through significantly raising participation of disabled children in education and other social activities.

The UNICEF Representative in Eritrea, Dr. Hamid El Bashir, said that he could come up with the observation that safeguarding children’s rights is part of the national values, and called on the citizenry make substantial investment as regards raising the production capacity of such children.

Various artistic performances and displays were staged in connection with the event by disabled children.
