Sports and Cultural Week conducted in Gash-Barka region

A Sports and Cultural Week witnessing the participation of electuary and junior schools from the 14 sub-zones of Gash-Barka region was conducted recently.

Barentu, 24 June 2013 – A Sports and Cultural Week witnessing the participation of electuary and junior schools from the 14 sub-zones of Gash-Barka region was conducted recently.

Mr. Tesfai Tekie, head of Sports, Culture and Health in the Education Ministry’s branch in the region, disclosed that the activities staged during the event include different sports contests and traditional cultural shows. He further indicated that more efforts are being exerted towards nurturing dynamic young sportspersons, and that the branch office would take part in the similar event due to be conducted at national level.

Mr. Solomon Teklehaimanot from the branch office pointed out that it has been exerting more efforts towards reinforcing Physical Education.

Student teams who won in the competitions received different awards including trophies.
